Electric car charging stations

If you can’t charge you can’t drive

By in Electric car charging stations

After 12 years of specializing solely in electric car charger installations, we’ve seen almost every type of installation possible. We’ve compiled a list of the top three mistakes we’ve seen people make before they install an electric car charging station – and what you can do to avoid them.

Mistake #1 Not budgeting for a car charger

Make sure you understand all aspects of investing in an electric car. More than 90% of electric car drivers charge at home, but most people don’t budget a charging station into the overall cost of buying their car. Charging station installations vary in cost because every home’s layout, electrical infrastructure and capacity is different. The length of the wire needed to run from the station to the electrical panel can also vary tremendously, which also changes the cost.

Mistake #2 Waiting until the last minute

It’s best to request a quote before you have your vehicle in possession. That way you’re not stuck without a place to charge, or relying on public charging stations for your fuel. During our busy seasons we have our installs booked out by two to three weeks at times. We’ve seen many circumstances where customers have received their vehicle early and haven’t started the process to request a quote. If you can’t charge you can’t drive. That’s why we recommend requesting a quote at least two weeks in advance of your scheduled delivery.

Mistake #3 Choosing a regular electrician

There are over 90 different types of electric cars on the market, and each one has unique charging requirements. Your typical electrician may not know the internal workings, both hardware and software, of your electric car and of your charging station. Not all charging stations are the same, and understanding the different installation requirements from the manufacturer is a time consuming task. Since we only specialize in car charging station installations, and we do not install or fix other electrical components in homes and businesses, our master electricians have accumulated a vast amount of knowledge and experience.

When work is being done on costly investments like your business, home and vehicle, it’s best to leave it to the experts instead of gambling to see if another electrician can complete the work correctly. Installing electric car charging stations is our speciality, and we are so confident in our work that we offer an extended warranty. We are only a phone call away to troubleshoot problems, and we can be at your residence within 24 hours to resolve the issue.

Charging an electric car may seem like a daunting task. For some people the hardest part about purchasing an electric car is wrapping their mind around not going to a gas station anymore. Imagine the safety, reliability and convenience of having your own personal fueling station in your garage. All it takes is a little planning, and we’ll be right beside you to guide the way.
